The Collection

Ten thousand Blokyz. Every one of them a specific character from a specific place in a specific age.

How it is structured

Six eras. Forgotten Years, Prehistoric, Medieval, Modern, Future, Far Future. The eras are not cosmetic themes. They are the timeline from the Long Record, and a Bloky's era determines what it can be.

Five tribes per era. Tribes are geographic. Desert, coastal island, mountains, jungle, volcanic wasteland in the Prehistoric, and their equivalents in every era after. Tribe identity is carried in landform, palette, banner, and totem.

A deep archetype set. The archetype is who the character is. Hunter, Shaman, Tinkerer, Mender, Leader, Chief Shaman, and the rest, each evolving into its era's version as the road runs forward. Archetypes are scoped per era. A Prehistoric Shaman and a Medieval Mage are the same lineage at different points on the road.

Two factions across all of it. Every archetype sits with the Temple of the Blok, the Order of the Cog, or neither. Both faiths appear in every era and every tribe. No region is Temple coded. No region is Order coded. This is enforced at the terrain brief, not just the character brief, because geography is the easiest place to break neutrality by accident.

Faith is hidden in the clothes

Faction allegiance is not a trait layer you can filter for. Faith sigils are woven into attire, worked into the design of the garment itself.

There is also a small library of hidden devotee sigils, placed on ordinary civilians who show no other sign of allegiance. A Blok who looks like nobody in particular, carrying a mark that says otherwise if you know where to look.

Five hundred and forty pieces, made by people

Ten thousand Blokyz are built from roughly five hundred and forty unique hand made art pieces, combined across six layers and palette swapped within tight rules.

Every one of those pieces is drawn by a human artist. Nothing generated is published under the Blokyz name. On a collection this size that decision costs real time and real money, and we are not going to move on it.

The Medieval era alone runs to thousands of pieces of work across its five cultures. That is one era of six.

Blokyz Studio

Assembling ten thousand characters from five hundred and forty pieces by hand is not possible. Curating them is not optional either, because a generator left alone will produce combinations that are visually broken or narratively wrong.

So we built a tool.

Blokyz Studio is an internal web application the art team works in together. It composites the six layers live, walks the coverage of every piece so nothing gets under used or over used, ranks the whole set by rarity, and lets the team record shared judgements on individual combinations while keeping their own filters separate.

It is the reason a hand made collection at this scale is possible with a team of ten rather than a hundred.

What a Bloky is, in the end

A character. From an era, from a tribe, of an archetype, holding a faith or holding none. Rendered by hand, placed in a world that was written before the art started, and made into an object that weighs half a kilo.
